Our climate-friendly investments are helping to transition the world from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Not only does renewable energy investing help contribute to a greener society, but energy infrastructure investments also secure a safer, cleaner future for us all and can potentially generate sustainable returns for investors over the long term.
Since 2010, we have made more than 180 investments in the core renewables space (as at March 2023). We believe that investing in different renewable energy technologies, geographies and project stages enhances the stability of returns throughout the year and year to year.
With over 60 professionals dedicated to renewable energy, we are experienced in managing complex contractual, technical and legal aspects of projects and technologies from development to pre-construction and mature operations.
We have an extensive track record of investing across the capital structure. We can support a variety of projects and transactions by investing equity or lending debt.
Developing, operating and owning renewable energy assets
Our fully integrated team provides investment, asset management, project development and project delivery services. Meaning we are structured to manage the full lifecycle of a renewable energy asset. Downing's investment team is highly experienced with approximately 150 years of combined experience across renewable energy and infrastructure.
With a wide range of backgrounds, the team is responsible for deal sourcing and execution, portfolio construction, ongoing value optimisation and the implementation of a commercial strategy for each of our assets.
Our asset management team managers c.7,400 individual installations across six different technologies. A proprietary IT system allows the team to analyse one billion data points from the portfolio.
With the aid of this system, our team is able to drive operational gains and cost savings, while also allowing Downing to offer highly tailored reporting to our clients, which are designed to address ESG, regulatory and data requirements.
We have an in-house renewable energy project development business, focused on building a pipeline of renewable energy assets across the UK. The Downing Renewable Development team now compliments our experienced investment team and our large, dedicated infrastructure asset management team.
By incorporating these three capabilities, we are able to manage assets all the way from the first step of identifying suitable land, through the investment stage and effectively manage the developed asset.
