London-based investment manager Downing LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of two new senior team members, Russ Cummings and Andrew Jameson.
Russ joins Downing as an advisor to their venture business and a member of the Investment Committee. This follows a long-standing career in the investment industry where he was Chief Executive Officer of Touchstone Innovations plc, one of the UK's leading technology investment companies and, prior to this, a director for Scottish Equity Partners and 3i Group's UK Technology team.
Russ is also currently an independent non-executive director for British Patient Capital, part of the Government backed British Business Bank, and Chairman of Lignia Wood Company, a UK-based manufacturer of sustainable modified timber.
A former Olympic medallist in swimming and investment banker, Andrew Jameson joins Downing in an advisory role with an emphasis on governance and infrastructure investments. Andrew's previous positions include Head of Investment Banking, EMEA, for Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, where he oversaw the renewable energy and infrastructure teams. Prior to this, he was head of the infrastructure team at Royal Bank of Scotland International. Andrew is also a prominent swimming commentator for the BBC.
Commenting on the appointments, Head of Unquoted Investment at Downing LLP, Dr Kostas Manolis, said: "Both Russ and Andrew bring a truly unique set of experiences with them, which will add greatly to our range and depth of expertise, and on behalf of everyone at Downing I would like to welcome them to the team. This has been a strong year of recruitment growth for Downing, with six senior appointments already made throughout 2019, which reflects our continued drive to seek out responsible investments that are rewarding for both our investors and society as a whole."
