The Downing Risk and Compliance team is looking for a Compliance Analyst to join their team of five.
Known for their collaborative approach, the team fosters a culture of integrity, open communication, and empowered decision-making.
They work closely with investment and operations teams across the firm, operating in a flat, fast-paced environment focused on delivering outstanding outcomes for investors.
The team play a critical role in overseeing and managing regulatory risk for Downing as an FCA-regulated MIFID entity.

Role and responsibilities
• Maintenance of Business Timetable and regulatory deadline monitoring.
• Circulation and logging of relevant publications and action monitoring arising from this.
• Complaints support and escalation.
• Financial Crime oversight support including using sanctions screening system.
• Owning the review, recording and approval of day-to-day compliance requests such as: PA Dealing, Gifts and Benefits, Outside business interests.
• Carrying out BAU compliance monitoring reviews on a quarterly basis according to risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan.
• Preparation of compliance returns and reports.
• Review and update Compliance Policies and Procedures.
• Preparation of regulatory applications and returns to the FCA using FCA Connect and Regdata.
• Preparation and delivery of compliance training sessions and modules.
• Preparation of board reporting and internal management information to support working committees.
• Cultivate relationships with all relevant internal and external parties (such as ACD, custodians and various fund boards and committees), to ensure a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with first line teams to promote a strong risk culture, effective training approach, and delivery of continuous improvement.
• To act as an ambassador for Downing’s values, and to always behave in a respectful and professional manner.
Education, experience and skills
• A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a compliance or risk-related role within a UK regulated firm, preferably within Fund Management
• A good understanding of FCA regulatory framework and UK facing legislation
• Good knowledge of enterprise risk management principles and tools (e.g. risk appetite, risk assessments, key risk indicators, and controls)
• The ability to remain calm and composed whilst working under pressure
• Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing
• Strong attention to detail
• Confidence and ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Hybrid working

About the team
IT Operations and Security is a growing team at Downing with the primary goal of improving operational efficiency across the business. The team is also responsible for Information Security, Data Governance, and ISO accreditation, this role will have some involvement in these areas.
Role and responsibilities
The IT Operations Assistant serves as a central coordinating role, facilitating the effective functioning of the IT department by providing support in procurement, inventory management, logistics, record keeping, and compliance. Although this position is not exclusively technical, it is integral to IT delivery, bridging people, processes, and systems within the organisation.
Participation in ongoing training, professional development and compliance training in line with an FCA-registered business would be expected.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Operational and administrative support
- Maintain and update records, databases, and documentation related to IT operations.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of IT process documentation, checklists and standard operating procedures.
- Help draft and update user guides, FAQs, and training materials for internal systems and tools (e.g., ClickUp, ITOS, Power BI, SharePoint)
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure smooth execution of IT initiatives
- Collate and prepare data used for IT operational reporting.
Inventory procurement
- Help with the procurement and inventory management of IT assets.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely replenishment of stock.
- Conduct regular audits of inventory to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Managing couriers
- Coordinate and manage courier services for the IT department, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of equipment.
- Track and document all shipments and resolve any issues related to courier services, including delays or lost items.
Induction and access setup
- Facilitate onboarding of new starters: ensure access to ClickUp, ITOS, Power BI, and shared folders.
- Support leavers’ processes and maintain system access hygiene
