About the team

The Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) Asset Management finance team consists of two key components: Finance Operations and Commercial Finance. These teams collaborate to manage the financial, commercial, and valuation workstreams of the assets under management.

The finance team operates from London, Glasgow, and Stockholm, collectively overseeing assets-owned by three Downing-managed investment funds. These funds encompass over 100 entities and assets, including holding companies and special purpose vehicles focused on solar, wind, hydro, grid, battery storage, and shunt reactor technologies.

The E&I Asset Management team includes technical and commercial experts, ESG specialists, data analysts, and finance professionals. Team members are distributed across the three main offices, similar to the finance team. We work in close partnership with the wider Downing teams to drive growth for the Downing-managed investment funds.

Role and responsibilities

Reporting to the Finance Operations Manager based in Glasgow and working closely with the Operations team, this role will support the day-to-day financial operations in both the UK and Nordic regions, working closely with the core renewable energy assets (solar, hydro, battery and wind) and any other technologies that would be brought into the business.

This role is key to ensuring smooth communication with internal stakeholders and supporting finance operations to the highest standard. The Accounting Analyst will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial processes and will work closely with the Energy & Infrastructure team.

Your responsibilities will include:

Communication and Collaboration

• Monitor and manage the team’s shared inbox, ensuring timely responses and escalating queries to the wider team where appropriate.

• Support effective communication with internal stakeholders.

• Assist in maintaining relationships with external vendors and internal teams.

• Work closely with commercial finance team to ensure processes are followed across all regions.

Finance Operations

• Manage the full cycle of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accuracy and timely processing

• Handle payments, including vendor settlements and intercompany transfers

• Oversee vendor invoice routing and approval workflows, maintaining compliance with internal controls

• Perform bank reconciliations and assist with tax-related reconciliations (e.g., VAT) under supervision.

• Track and report on aged payable and receivable positions, flagging overdue items to the wider team.

• Support the resolution of overdue items by liaising with relevant stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure timely cash collection

• Collaborate with local teams and external consultants to ensure adherence to local accounting regulations

• Engage with local authorities as necessary for audits, regulatory inquiries, or compliance updates

• Support the development and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and best practices

• Provide support on ad-hoc projects and tasks as required.

Reporting

• Support preparation of internal financial reports and provide accurate data for analysis.

• Help coordinate with external auditors by providing required documentation.

Budgeting and forecasting

• Support the annual budgeting process by gathering data and preparing inputs.

• Assist in monitoring actuals versus budget and reporting variances.

Process optimisation

• Identify opportunities to improve workflows and efficiency.

• Support implementation of new tools and systems, including automation initiatives.

• Help document processes and maintain updated procedures.

Education, experience and skills

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Up to 1 year of experience in accounting or finance (internships or entry-level roles are a plus).

• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.

• Familiarity with financial software and tools.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with numbers.

• Good organizational and time management skills.

• Eagerness to learn and develop within a dynamic finance team.

• Ability to works in a fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

About the team

IT Operations and Security is a growing team at Downing with the primary goal of improving operational efficiency across the business. The team is also responsible for Information Security, Data Governance, and ISO accreditation, this role will have some involvement in these areas.

Role and responsibilities

The IT Operations Assistant serves as a central coordinating role, facilitating the effective functioning of the IT department by providing support in procurement, inventory management, logistics, record keeping, and compliance. Although this position is not exclusively technical, it is integral to IT delivery, bridging people, processes, and systems within the organisation.

Participation in ongoing training, professional development and compliance training in line with an FCA-registered business would be expected.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Operational and administrative support

  • Maintain and update records, databases, and documentation related to IT operations.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of IT process documentation, checklists and standard operating procedures.
  • Help draft and update user guides, FAQs, and training materials for internal systems and tools (e.g., ClickUp, ITOS, Power BI, SharePoint)
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure smooth execution of IT initiatives
  • Collate and prepare data used for IT operational reporting.

Inventory procurement

  • Help with the procurement and inventory management of IT assets.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely replenishment of stock.
  • Conduct regular audits of inventory to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Managing couriers

  • Coordinate and manage courier services for the IT department, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of equipment.
  • Track and document all shipments and resolve any issues related to courier services, including delays or lost items.

Induction and access setup

  • Facilitate onboarding of new starters: ensure access to ClickUp, ITOS, Power BI, and shared folders.
  • Support leavers’ processes and maintain system access hygiene
