Sam grew and sold his first company, a hospitality and entertainment play, straight after high school in Leeds whilst simultaneously training as an accountant in the global corporate turnaround space. His ties to the mobility world began after relocating to London and joining Europe’s biggest asset-heavy passenger transport player to develop it for a £300m sale. He subsequently became the youngest externally-appointed CEO in the European private equity arena on taking over the fourth largest fleet, electric and hybrid only, and pushing it to second place before it was acquired. The transportation connection was furthered by founding and exiting a social delivery platform, designing a disaster-avoidance strategy for one global automotive OEM before then building a corporate venture capital fund focused on mobility for another.
Sam now splits his time between advising very large organisations around the world (corporate, government, and private equity), investing in interesting early-stage mobility businesses, and co-founding a variety of new ventures with great people on three continents. He sits on the boards of several portfolio companies, including a logistics aggregation platform and a flexible electric vehicle subscription business, both Europe’s biggest today.
